 🍗 Crispy Sweet Chilli Chicken Recipe

Ingredients

For the Chicken:

500g boneless chicken (thigh or breast), cut into bite-sized pieces
1/2 cup cornflour
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 egg
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp garlic paste
Oil for deep frying

For the Sweet Chilli Sauce:

2–3 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp vinegar (optional)
1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
1 tsp chili flakes (adjust to taste)
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
1 tbsp water or cornstarch slurry (if you want a thicker glaze)

Garnish:

Sesame seeds
Spring onions (chopped)

🔥 Instructions

🍗 Frying the Chicken:

  1. In a bowl, mix chicken with cornflour, flour, egg, salt, pepper, and garlic paste. Coat well.

  2. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the chicken until golden brown and crispy. Set aside on paper towels.

🍯 Making the Sauce:

  1. In another pan, add a little oil and sauté the garlic until fragrant.

  2. Add sweet chilli sauce, ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar, honey, chili flakes, and mix well.

  3. Let it simmer for 1–2 minutes. Add a cornstarch slurry if you want a thicker sauce.

🍽️ Combine & Serve:

  1. Toss the crispy chicken in the sauce until well coated.

  2. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions.

Serving Suggestions

Serve hot with:

Fried rice
Noodles
Or enjoy it as a snack/starter with a cool drink!
